Adrodd is a Welsh language learning app built around read-along stories. Every story is written for learners and read aloud by a Welsh speaker, and the audio is aligned to the text word by word, so the word you hear is the word highlighted on screen. Tapping any word shows what it means in that sentence.

How does Adrodd help you learn Welsh?

By reading and listening at the same time. Hearing a word while seeing it spelled fixes Welsh pronunciation and spelling together, which is where most self-taught learners come unstuck. Because every word is glossed in context, you can read material slightly above your level without stopping to look things up, and the words you do look up come back for spaced-repetition review.

Both. Stories are labelled by dialect, so you can learn the Welsh actually spoken where you live rather than a neutral written standard you will not hear anyone use.

Yes. Stories are graded across levels from Mynediad (entry) upwards, and each level is measured against the vocabulary a learner at that stage actually knows. Beginners start with short stories built almost entirely from the most common Welsh words.
